Often risks lie in young people not knowing, not thinking, or not caring. Why have the government now suggested monitoring as well as filtering? Impero Education Pro is compliant with the UKSIC ‘appropriate’ criteria and does more! What does ‘appropriate’ monitoring mean?! UK Safer Internet Centre (UKSIC) has provided details on this and is listed in the Annex of this document. (additional information to support governing bodies and proprietors is provided in annex c.) Keeping children safe in education guidance Sept 2016 explicitly mentions Monitoring Systems as a requirement for schools for the first time. as such governing bodies and proprietors should ensure appropriate filters and appropriate monitoring systems are in place. as schools and colleges increasingly work online it is essential that children are safeguarded from potentially harmful and inappropriate online material.

“due regard to the need to prevent people from being drawn into terrorism” This risk is explicitly referenced within the Prevent duty guidance. Government guidance “The internet and the use of social media in particular has become a major factor in the radicalisation of young people." The internet, particularly in relation to social media platforms, is being exploited by extremist organisations for the purpose of radicalising and recruiting young people. This can involve exposure to harmful or inappropriate content, or access and interaction with people of unwelcome persuasion. Government guidance Statutory guidance now explicitly recognises online risks as part of safeguarding.
